Next month Calgary will once again be celebrating Stampede season. The Northwestern Chinese Community Association of Alberta and the Chinese Canadian Association for Public Engagement are making plans to unite with other Chinese associations and put on a "Stampede with a Chinese Flair" pageant. This will make the Calgary Stampede an even more colourful and festive occasion. 

 

This pageant and its activities will celebrate Canada's multi-cultural realities and showcase traditional Chinese culture in an effort to encourage ethnic Chinese to integrate into Canadian society, to promote unity among Chinese associations, and to make positive contributions to the friendship between Canada and China. 

 

The pageant's spectacles will include a qipao show on traditional Chinese women's dresses; Chinese zither musical performances; a multi-dynastic, multi-ethnic show on Chinese clothing; the incomparable grace and elegance of Chinese women during the Han and Tang dynasties; the awesome power and grandeur of traditional Mongolian robes and the eye-catching allure of red Uighur dance skirts as they convey the full-bodied style and feel of China's western regions; Chinese martial arts performances; China's ethnic minority dances; line dancing; and so on. We hope these striking and memorable Chinese elements will help enrich the Calgary Stampede for everyone.
